A model of electrically induced phosphenes

Abstract

A model of electrically induced phosphenes is presented. The model repoduces the spatio temporal patterns created within subject's retina in an experiment performed by R.H.S. Carpenter (J. Physiol. 1973). The model is a two dimensional grid of coupled integrate and fire oscillators driven periodically. A reduced model is also presented. This model is an evolution/ convolution equation where the intrinsic dynamics are bistable.
