Title: "Mathematical Modeling of Lifestyle Interventions and Beyond"

Abstract:

A long-standing challenge in obesity care involves guiding patient weight loss using objective measures. Current practice relies on patient self-report which has been demonstrated highly unreliable. I will present the application of a thermodynamic model housed within a smart phone app that was clinical deployed to successfully guide patient weight loss by using deviations between model predictions and actual patient weight as a counseling tool. Exploration between the relationship of modest weight change and exercise will be investigated through thermodynamic model analysis and new intriguing questions about adiposity changes post-exercise intervention will be posed.
