Requirements to Obtain the PhD Degree
In addition to satisfying a sufficient number of course credit hours, two main requirements to receive the PhD degree are:
- A PhD student will be required to defend his/her research work in the form of a PhD thesis defense, as already required in both PhD programs.
- A student will demonstrate his/her level of research preparation in the subjects of physics and mathematics by establishing his/her contribution to the research field. Thus, a PhD student will be required to develop research results sufficient for at least two research papers in recognized international journals or refereed conference proceedings.
