Graduate students in this track should be engaged in research immediately after passing the qualifying exams. Joint mentoring of the students will be established. Both institutions will approve the supervisors, as well as the PhD thesis committee, which will consist of faculty members from both institutions. This committee will approve the Research Proposal during the second or third year of the program.
